E.C. Quayle By Archibald Knox
(unsigned & undated)
This magnificent portrait is believed to be the
work of Archibald Knox a long time friend and admirer of the paintings
of ECQ and was given to the artist's son
Leo Quayle, by Knox himself.
Leo had asked to study with Knox who
told Leo that he should return home and study with
his father, the finest watercolourist of his era.
Knox also told Leo that he had himself learned
his watercolour technique from ECQ.
The portrait was inherited by Leo's daughter Sandra
and has now passed on to her son Mike Beattie.
